Question 1

What is SecLern?

Accepted Answer

SecLern is a hands-on study site for IT certifications (CompTIA, Cisco CCNA, Linux+, ISC2, ISACA, AWS, and Microsoft). You get original practice questions aligned to the published exam objectives, performance-based questions and interactive labs that simulate the hands-on exam tasks, and short games that drill ports, acronyms, and scenarios. A daily study session targets your weak spots automatically.

Question 2

Do you have PBQ practice?

Accepted Answer

Yes. SecLern has 359 performance-based questions across 15 certifications, covering drag and drop, configuration, log analysis and topology tasks. Each one is graded on the end state, with partial credit where the real exam allows it. The real exams call these PBQs; our hands-on lab feature is the same idea with more room to explore.

Question 3

Are these the same questions as the real test?

Accepted Answer

No, and any site that claims that is selling stolen content, which can get your certification revoked. Every SecLern question is written originally for this site and mapped to the public exam objectives. You practice the same skills and scenarios, never memorized answers.

Question 4

How much does SecLern cost?

Accepted Answer

There is a free tier ($0) with 30 study questions a day, 3 hands-on labs, the free games, and unlimited flashcards. Full exam simulations are Pro-only. Pro is $15/month or $99/year and includes everything: all certifications, unlimited questions, every lab, full exam simulations in each exam's real format, and the boss campaign. Exam Sprint ($29 one-time, 90 days) is the same full Pro access for one booked exam date, with no renewal. Pro starts with a 7-day trial; a card is required, and you can cancel before day 7 with no charge.

Question 5

Which certification should I take first?

Accepted Answer

With no IT background, start with A+ Core 1, then Core 2. With help-desk experience, Network+ then Security+ is the classic path. Security+ alone fits government and contracting requirements. Take the 1-minute Which-cert quiz and it will recommend a starting point with reasons.

Question 6

Should I take Security+ SY0-701 or wait for SY0-801?

Accepted Answer

If your exam date is before mid-2027, study 701. It retires June 11, 2027 for English. If you are starting now with no date, learn the 701 core and add the 801 delta (AI-risk topics, reweighted domains) as your date firms up. The version explainer walks through the full comparison.

Question 7

Do you guarantee I will pass?

Accepted Answer

No, and you should distrust any prep site that does. Passing depends on your study time, background, and exam-day performance, things we cannot control. What we do: cover every objective, simulate the real format under time pressure, and show you an honest readiness estimate based on your practice, not a marketing number.

Question 8

How is SecLern different from videos and books?

Accepted Answer

Videos and books teach; SecLern trains. The app follows what you miss (and how confident you felt) and aims your next session at the gaps. The labs simulate the hands-on tasks videos can only describe. A common setup is a video course to learn, plus SecLern to drill, simulate, and verify readiness.

Question 9

Can I study on my phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The app is designed phone-first with a bottom tab bar, touch-friendly labs, and offline-capable study. Full exam simulations are more comfortable on a larger screen, but daily sessions, flashcards, and games all work on the bus.

Question 10

Is there an age minimum?

Accepted Answer

You must be at least 16 to create an account. Exam candidates under 16 can still use the free tools (subnet calculator, ports sheet, acronym lookup) without signing up.

Question 11

Who makes SecLern?

Accepted Answer

One independent developer, not a content mill. Questions and labs are written and reviewed against the official objectives, and app screens carry a Report-a-problem button that goes to a real queue. If something is wrong, it gets fixed. That is the whole quality system.

Question 12

Is SecLern affiliated with CompTIA, Cisco or Microsoft?

Accepted Answer

No. SecLern is an independent study site and is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by any exam vendor. The trademark notice at the bottom of this page lists the CompTIA, Cisco, ISC2, ISACA, Amazon and Microsoft marks, and the exam-fact note explains how dates are checked.
