AWS Solutions Architect Associate SAA-C03

AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate (SAA-C03) tests whether you can design systems on AWS that survive failure, scale sensibly, stay secure, and avoid waste. Every question is a tradeoff between those four pressures.

Cloud practitioners with hands-on AWS time, solutions architects in training, and sysadmins moving their workloads to AWS.

How much study time does SAA-C03 need?

Pick the closest starting point. The range below is a planning estimate, not a promise or a pass prediction.

70 to 110 hoursat a steady pace

That is up to 22 weeks at 5 hours a week, or 14 weeks at 8 hours. Some IT background, but the exam material is still new.

Estimate only. Based on the exam level and a study-pace assumption. Your background, exam date and practice scores will move it.

A study plan that works

Order matters
  1. Learn the tradeoff pattern: every design question pits resilience, performance, security, and cost against each other.
  2. Give resilient architectures (30%) the biggest share of study time.
  3. Compare similar services by their one distinguishing job (when to pick which queue, which database, which front door).
  4. Practice eliminating answers that solve the wrong problem. Two options usually work; one fits the constraints.

Try one question

Live demo
Demo questionResilient architectures

A reporting job can tolerate a restart if a server disappears, and the company wants the lowest compute cost. Which choice fits best?

Written for this page. It is a teaching demo, not an item from the question bank or the real exam.

Try the hands-on shape

About 2 minutes

A web app must survive one Availability Zone failure with the least operational effort. Which design fits?

Demo preview. A teaching model with fixed sample data, not the real lab. Full labs run in the browser with checkable steps.

Practice a performance question

20 performance-based questions are written for AWS Solutions Architect Associate SAA-C03. They ask you to do the task in a simulated console, table or form, and they grade in parts, so a half-right answer still earns credit.

Common traps

Ways smart people lose points on this exam.

  • Picking the most powerful service instead of the most fitting one. Cost and simplicity are constraints, not afterthoughts.
  • Memorizing service lists without the decision rule for each pair.
  • Ignoring the shared responsibility implications. Know what AWS handles and what stays yours.

Practise SAA-C03, three ways

Every lab is a job task in the tool that job uses, graded on the end state you leave behind. The PBQ pages explain the performance formats this exam uses and open one real scenario in the browser. The practice test gives you fifteen questions with a reason for every option.
